How It Works…
VenusGuard consists of a soft, stretchy, and cut-resistant medical-grade silicone sheath with a specialized internal web of razor-sharp barbs.
The user inserts the sheath vaginally using the included applicator, in the same simple way one would insert a tampon. Each sheath is individually packaged, similar to a tampon, for maximum hygiene and convenience.
Once inserted, the VenusGuard sheath is completely discreet. It cannot be seen or felt externally, and it causes no discomfort during normal wear.

The sheath has been rigorously designed and tested to ensure it cannot cause any injury to the user during insertion, wear, or removal. When no longer needed, the user can easily remove it herself, at her discretion.
If an assailant attempts penetration, the penis enters the sheath. Upon withdrawal, the internal barbs engage with the skin of the penis and securely attach the sheath to the attacker. This creates immediate, intense pain that rapidly incapacitates the attacker. In reaction to the shock and pain, the assailant typically pulls back, which draws the VenusGuard sheath out with him, now firmly attached to his penis. Any attempts to pull off the sleeve causes it to constrict, increasing the intensity of the grip, in turn becoming more firmly attached, similar to a Chinese finger trap.
Test volunteers have described the sensation as “being caught in multiple zippers all over the penis at the same time. Any attempt to dislodge one causes the others to bite in deeper.” Any further movement or attempts to pull off the sheath causes the barbs to hold more firmly. This makes it extremely difficult for the assailant to move or focus on anything other than seeking immediate assistance to have it removed.
This gives the survivor precious time to fight back or escape and get to safety.
Evidence and Identification.
The sheath cannot be removed or tampered with by the assailant without causing additional injury to himself. It can only be safely taken off by a medical professional in a clinical setting.
The attached sheath provides clear forensic evidence by preserving DNA from both the assailant and the survivor, significantly strengthening the chances of identification, arrest, and conviction.
Attempting to pull the sheath off only drives the barbs deeper, causing increased pain and potential injury. If the assailant seeks medical help promptly, the sheath is designed to cause no long-term harm.
When the sheath is removed at the hospital, it is preserved as forensic evidence for use in court. At the hospital, the assailant’s identification, residence, and personal details are recorded. Law enforcement is typically alerted, and he can be questioned about the circumstances of his situation. If the survivor comes forward, this information greatly simplifies his identification and apprehension.
Beyond the immediate physical deterrent, the reliable acquisition of strong forensic evidence is one of the most powerful aspects of VenusGuard.
While it should never be a woman’s responsibility to defend herself, many refuse to simply wait for criminals’ behavior to change. We recognize that crime is complex and that no single solution can stop every offender. However, VenusGuard is a meaningful step toward making sexual assault a much riskier crime for perpetrators.
